The French newspaper, Le Monde, took a look at political advertising in its latest interactive “Fifty years of political spots in the U.S.” Le Monde reported that although recent political advertising is often viewed negatively, similar practices in past elections indicate that attacking an opponent is not a new concept in political ads. To illustrate this point, Le Monde used video and text in an interactive timeline format to provide a comparison of tactics used by past and present presidential candidates to gain favor in an election.
