Geography of a recession

Graphics editors at The New York Times have perfected data visualization that allows users to modify the appearance of a graphic by selecting different data sets at a time. This graphic uses a choropleth strategy to show the hardest-hit parts of the country. Users can roll over different segments of the map to view corresponding statistics by county.
