The Huffington Post has an article entitled, “Office Michael Slager Tells Dispatch ‘He Grabbed My Taser’ After Killing Walter Scott (AUDIO).” In this article, they provide the audio recording of Officer Slager’s call to dispatch about an event that resulted in the death of an unarmed man. They also provide video a bystander took of the events as they actually unfolded. This is a great example of showing multiple angles of a story through multiple sources. The audio-video comparison shows how damning video can be in comparison to simply using audio, because audio is simply people speaking and the audience can’t see for themselves what is occuring. It also shows how the public’s contribution through citizen journalism can have great impact on how events are covered by giving these needed second perspectives.
